About this blog

Welcome to The Joyner Journal

What underlies this blog is my strong belief that every journey, be it a hair-raising bus ride through the Andes or the journey through parenthood, changes us and helps us grow. Travel also has the unique ability to help us find our place in the world, and as such I believe its a powerful tool for young people’s development.

I have tangoed in Buenos Aires, dived with whale sharks in the Galapagos, slept under the stars in the Australian outback, tracked elephants in Kruger, floated down the Amazon in wooden boats, hiked the jungles of South East Asia, watched the sunrise at Machu Picchu/ Angor Wat and everything in between. Perhaps more importantly to me though, I have stayed everywhere from a stilted family home in the Cambodian rice fields to a rondavel in the African savannah to a convent in rural Mexico and it is these precious moments and the beautiful people I have met which have helped me to understand all the benefits that travel can bring to both the traveller and the local community.

Having experienced first hand the incredible impact tourism can have on communities, I am passionate about sustainable travel and I now run a successful Travel Consultancy helping people to realise their travel dreams.
